Privacy policy
Who this covers
This policy covers the Be Nice macOS app (github.com/mfang0126/be-nice), published by WUYU TECH PTY LTD. It does not cover this website.
What Be Nice does not collect
Be Nice has no server of its own. It collects no telemetry or analytics and bundles no model. Your drafts, settings and usage never reach us.
Where your draft goes
Nothing is sent until you choose a model provider in Settings and click Save. After that, when you ask for a rewrite, Be Nice sends your draft text to that provider only:
GitHub Copilot, or a custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint that you enter. A custom endpoint can be Ollama or LM Studio running on your own Mac, in which case the draft stays on your machine.
What the provider does with your text is governed by that provider’s own privacy policy and terms. The Test button and the Copilot model list contact the same provider.
Credentials
For a custom endpoint, your API key is stored in your macOS Keychain.
For GitHub Copilot, Be Nice uses the GitHub CLI login already on your Mac. It never signs you in or out and never stores the token.
Permissions
Be Nice asks for Accessibility access. It uses it to read and replace the text in Slack’s message box. Be Nice never sends a message for you.
Open source
Be Nice is open source under the MIT licence, so you can read the code or build it yourself on GitHub.
Changes and contact
If the app’s data handling changes, this page will be updated and the date above will change.
